how interesting is Humantay lake tour
The origin of this story lies in the heart of the Andes, where ancestral tradition gives life to two imposing guardians of the mountains: Ausangate and Salkantay.
Legend tells that, during a devastating drought that threatened the survival of the people, both mountains decided to embark on a journey to distant lands with a noble purpose: to save their people.
Ausangate traveled south and, after an arduous journey, found abundant food, which he generously sent to Cusco, thus alleviating hunger and restoring hope.
Salkantay, on the other hand, headed north. There, he not only found new provisions but also discovered love in the enigmatic goddess Veronica, whose beauty and spirit captivated his heart.
But fate had other plans. Despite the strength of his feelings, Salkantay understood that his duty came before everything else. He had to return to Cusco to ensure the water supply and guarantee the lives of his people.
Thus, this legend speaks not only of love and sacrifice, but also of commitment, responsibility, and dedication. A tale that continues to resonate in the Andean mountains and that today continues to inspire those who travel these sacred paths.
What will your tour be like?
The adventure begins before dawn. At 4:30 a.m., our professional guide and tour transport team will pick you up promptly from your hotel in Cusco.
We’ll begin a scenic two-hour drive to the charming town of Mollepata, where we’ll enjoy a complimentary breakfast. This strategic stop will allow you to recharge and prepare for one of the most breathtaking hikes in the Andes.
Afterward, we’ll continue by transport to Soraypampa, the starting point of our trekking route.
From Soraypampa, we’ll begin our ascent to the spectacular Humantay Lagoon, a natural gem famous for its intense turquoise waters and imposing mountain setting.
Along the way, you’ll witness unforgettable Andean landscapes: snow-capped mountains, valleys carved by crystal-clear rivers, and a natural silence that invites a profound connection with nature.
An experience that combines adventure, scenic beauty, and excitement at every turn.
After the visit, we’ll begin our descent to Soraypampa and then return to Mollepata, where lunch awaits you as part of the tour.
Finally, we’ll begin our return trip to Cusco, with an estimated arrival time of around 6:00 p.m., concluding a day filled with nature, culture, and extraordinary landscapes.
